Into the depths of this...
by Ryan Martin, age 17, from US
Into the depths of this golden sea
Lovers' lust swallows me
Whole hearted lost in simple touch
I've given all to steal this much
Behind these clouds we shed light
on the world
Dive deep inside to find the pearl
Only let them see all the love that passes between
You and I hold in our arms; love others may only dream
Nothing seems to matter other than you
From up here I have a perfect view
What lies deep down inside
You and I share what others try to hide
Exposed to cold wind dreaming of
the beach
Tortured hearts, so far, still out of reach
I must walk through life missing truth
Yet I've endured all this to be with you
Welcome, subtle Misgivings-
Out of my head comes rushing
The words of generations before me
This stream flows. 'm unsure if I have given any new life
Because of this pretence I stand here
With the knowledge that it is all in consequential
These endowments, fine prizes, honors
Laid at the feat of societies creation
This lavish room filled with the endowed
Gathered to stage there own achievement
Place the spotlight on a puppet for the fifteen minutes they choose
As abruptly as they are thrust into the eyes of the world
They are stripped naked, sucked dry, used for all they once held
Cast aside with nothing left of their soul
This gentle faced grandfather friend moves on to find another
New generation to set up in there own pride as a testament of
his own achievement
His elaborate wall appealing to the
senses
Raised as a hindrance to any that wish to stay humble
In the gentle pursuit of the serenity life has to offer
So easy to be deceived into his appealing oppressive arms
Offer them the security their parents striped them of
Greed filled hearts created by a lust for possessions
Drive them to abandon those innocent eyes reliant on their strength
and individuality
Pretend, address the issue, and send them out
In pursuit of solutions, lead them in the wrong direction to secure
your wealth
Evolving deceit adapts to knew knowledge to retain control and
possession
Of this gentle grand father friend,
Welcome subtle Misgiving
Undo religious reliance, no use in a family, destructive individuality,
Chemical salvation, confusion, disorder, control
Bend to the over whelming will, for such a sort time
Or so it seems. This small part in a elaborate scheme
Make clear these sincerest remarks give the world a token of heart
Leave them needing the image of comfort, created by your earlier
incarnation
This seedling planted by past generations, now in bloom are the
victims
Reap the pain you have sewn let it infect you and seep through
your veins
Rise and take action, revolt for your namesake,
Take pride in your soul; voice your concern for your brothers'
future
Cast of your dependence on your marionette, become your own
Stand with your hatred no longer turned inward
Let your voice release a passionate cry with the rest of humanity
So far we've come, led by the grand father, much more left to
change, longer to go
Where do I stand, I have no place in this televised revolution.
I belong in the solace of my home alone with my heart
I do not belong on these screaming streets, with these puppets
in arms
My ideals not spoon fed, concern for my self, posterity, brother
and nature Come natural, with out prodding from my souls core
provided by my god The revolt now broadcast by its own enemy,
this army of anger protests into the arms
Of this gentle grand father friend,
Welcome subtle Misgiving
Greet me with arms take me up in your heart
Yes my child you are safe in my arms, rest easy
