Blackash Street
by Rachel Roberts, age 15, from the UK
A Blackash face, a Blackash case
And one story, one life, one beat.
It's all just another syringe
In the gutters of Blackash Street -
A boy sits alone in darkness
Burnt out in the pressure and heat
And dying now because of it
In the gutters of Blackash Street -
A girl stands on the dark corner
Waiting to give some bloke his treat
And only thinking of the cash
In the gutters of Blackash Street -
A man stands dealing out poison,
Ignoring the dirt 'round his feet
And the blame for the boy and girl
"'cos hey, this is a back lash street."
A boy and a girl and a man,
The soldiers of a Blackash fleet.
It's all just another syringe
In the gutters of Blackash Street.
