Individuality
by Tanya Noegel
Individuality
The qualities that distinguish a person from all others.
My, isn't it a concept?
Something you should probably look into
because I think it would probably bring a whole
new you
and you, yes YOU, got plenty of potential.
Individuality
Another word for "personality"
and probably a word that would do you good
because in all the good things in life,
personality is the numero uno.
and you, yes YOU, got a personality.
Individuality
What's that in Spanish?
What's that in French?
Speaking of languages, you know languages are a type of individuality.
Do you know Spanish, or what do you call it,
Mexican?
It's individuality
and you, yes YOU, obviously got it.
Individuality
the meaning of life.
Cheesy, I know, but hey, what else could it be?
Everyone keeps telling you what life is not about:
not clothes,
not who's cool, who's not,
not make-up,
not hairspray,
and definitely not how fat you think you are.
They tell you that you should think about the people you love
and have now, the people you know will be there when you've
slipped on some footholds, the people who will always be there
to guide you along to the top of the
cliff.
Why don't they tell you about numero uno?
Why don't they tell you that life is all about you.
And your personality.
Your individuality.
YOU and YOUR life jumbled up in 5 billion others
and then spat out sooner or later
because it's starting to taste bad.
We all know what it means when that happens:
the end of personality,
the end of individuality.
And what exactly happens then?
Well, only fascists worry about things like that
because theyâre the only ones really CONCERNED about the end.
Individuality
The qualities that, when put together and shaped into a mold
like clay by skilled hands, make a person.
The qualities that from the very beginning point out the road
you're going
to take.
The qualities that, when looked at from the point of view of
someone else, might make someoneâs day brighter because they
know that
Yes, Virginia, there is someone out there like that.
Individuality
It's in you
It's in everyone
And the only problem is that you keep following everyone around
in a game of follow the leader,
not really knowing what theyâre going to do next
but not being a bit surprised when they do it
so you threw away the personality,
polished up the black boots
and haven't realized that it didn't land in the trash.
