Beach
by Chelsey, age 13, from UK
Its cool lush water spins.
It's parallel to the world, but not so.
Its tall green palm trees are longer than ours
and our faces don't glisten like jewels
when the sun hits us.
The parallel universe is at peace.
the small thatched roof house seem cosy and snug,
the children pleasant and nice, but soon
something will move the water;
trees and houses wiggle, faces move awkwardly.
The universe ripples and shakes;
slowly it will calm down
and surely enough it will happen again.
The sand moves softly-
it seems different to its reflection.
The tall green palm trees are longer than ours,
and our faces don't glisten like jewels
when the sun hits them.
The small thatched roof houses seem cosy and snug,
the children pleasanter nicer.
The sand moves softly.
They seem different to their reflection
but not so.
