Smile

by Rhea McCalla

When I saw your smile
everything was right.
Night was day,
and day became bright.
Although your smile
rarely appeared,
sneers and frowns were never near.
They were never near then,
and you still wouldn't now.
Even though
everyone around you is
wearing a frown.
And you'll never smile again,
my love my smile, my best friend.
Because the people you smiled with,
the one's that were your
friends,
are the one's who lied,
the one's that brought the end.
Why couldn't you see was their
smile too bright. Why didn't you
try to use your own light.
I don't know now,
and you didn't know then. They took my
smile
and yours' I'll never see again.
