Stolen
by Hae-In Kim, age 16, from US
You used to dream of sunflowers,
Raising their broad faces to the sky
Of butterflies, emerging from cocoons,
Metamorphosed and
Free
A small white boat,
Bobbing amid turquoise waters.
But its rope is severed,
Freeing its hold from the dock,
And drifting away·without destination
Like the dreams
He has stolen them from you.
Ripped out,
With a cold, piercing touch.
Now the dream that used to turn in your sleep
Sails into the years coldest night.
Leaving you shivering and
Robbed.
